Nervous System
- There are two types of systems within the nervous system. This is the reason why people consider it the most complex out of all the body systems
- This system connects all parts of the nervous system to the central nervous system which is the second nervous system. It uses nerves to carry information from body to central nervous system.
- It also carries messages from environment to the central nervous system along neurons
- This system includes all parts of the nervous system except for the brain and spinal cord.

Peripheral
- This system connects all parts of the nervous system to the central nervous system which is the second nervous system. It uses nerves to carry information from body to central nervous system.
- It also carries messages from environment to the central nervous system along neurons
- have special nerve endings called receptors ( detect changes in side and outside your body.
Motor neurons: send impulses from brain and spinal cord to tissues and glands.
- when muscles get impulses from motor neurons, they contract.
- they also send messages to glands
Ex. when you are in bright light, muscles contract to make your eyes squint.
- It also carries messages from environment to the central nervous system along neurons
- Neurons: nerve cells that are specialized to transfer messages in forms of fats-moving electrical energy called impulses. There are various types of neurons that that do different jobs

Central
- this system is connected to the rest of your body by nerves( a collection of axons bundled together with blood vessels and connective tissue. Most nerves have axons on both sensory and motor neurons.
- receives information from sensory neurons, and responds by sending messages to body through motor neurons in the peripheral nervous system.
- surrounded by protective bones called vertebrae
- sensory neurons in skin and muscles send impulses along axons to spinal cord to brain, and the brain interprets these as pain, temperature, etc. then it responds.
- impulses moving to brain are relayed to motor neurons. Motor neurons carry impulses along axons to muscles and glands all over thye body

- brain is the largest organ ( main control center of nervous system).
